Some Young Punks ‘Monsters Monsters, Attack’ 2014
Clare Valley – South Australia
Banjo says: Tangy, modern, funky – words to describe both this wine and it’s maker, Col McBride. Perfumed and vibrantly fresh – this is Riesling with edge! A hint of sweetness offsets juicy acidity, rounded out with flavours of apple and peach. Delivers fare more flavour than the standard Clare Valley paradigm - moreish!
Tom says: My new favourite thing in the world is to: instead of go out on Friday nights, head home order some spicy Thai home delivery, press play on good tv series and drink this wine. Sad I know, but whatever.
The grape type
Rieslings come in many forms, from bone dry to sickeningly sweet, and the best offset the sweetness with sharp aromatic flavours. But, for our purposes we are going to focus on a Slightly Sweet Riesling (or Off Dry). The reason for this is that it can provide a little something different to other whites types, without being overpoweringly sweet.
Fruit flavours: Pineapple, Apricot, Lime, Pear, Green Apple
